The Teaching, Curriculum, and Society Department in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College seeks to fill a tenure-track, full-time assistant professor position beginning Fall 2027. We invite applicants with expertise in teaching and research at the elementary and/or secondary level in one or more areas at the intersection of special education and literacy instruction (reading, writing), content-area learning (English language arts, history, biology, chemistry, physics, or mathematics), assessment, transition, or teacher education.
We are particularly interested in a colleague who takes interdisciplinary perspectives on disability. For example, a focus on disability and multilingualism, disability and historically marginalized populations, or disability studies perspectives. In addition to sustaining a robust program of research, the successful applicant will teach in our Moderate Support Needs programs. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field, as well as experience in K-12 inclusive special education.
Primary responsibilities will include:
● Maintaining a productive research agenda, including applying for and securing external funding;
● Teaching (two courses per semester) in the following: graduate moderate support needs licensure and certificate programs, generalist special education coursework, undergraduate general education, and the department’s interdisciplinary Curriculum & Instruction doctoral program;
● Student advising;
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field, as well as experience in K-12 inclusive special education.
