Haverford College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, starting in Fall semester 2027. The area of scholarly expertise is open, with the successful candidate demonstrating evidence of research productivity, vision, and long-term impact in their field. Teaching responsibilities include courses at all levels of the curriculum, in particular our core introductory sequence, upper-level electives that expand our range of advanced courses, and supervision of undergraduate research. The teaching load is five course units a year, which generally amounts to three or four regular courses per year once discussion or lab sections and senior thesis supervision are taken into account.

Haverford College’s long-standing commitment to social justice is reflected in the diversity, inclusion, and ethical engagement of our students and faculty. Faculty cultivate exciting research careers along with a dedication to student collaboration and innovative pedagogy. A successful teaching statement will highlight prior teaching experience, effective engagement with students from diverse backgrounds, the use of varied pedagogies, and successes and challenges as a teacher. A successful research statement will discuss your past and present scholarship, future planned projects, how your area of research will thrive at a small undergraduate institution, and how you might include and inspire undergraduates in your research program. Please begin the research statement with a summary (abstract) that is accessible to a general audience (e.g., to faculty from other departments and to students). Throughout these materials, the committee is interested in hearing directly from the candidate in their own words, and will look poorly on AI-generated materials.
All application materials should be submitted by 11:59pm (ET) on October 1, 2026 via Interfolio.
Questions about the Computer Science program or about the position or application process should be directed to hc-compsciencesearch@haverford.edu. For technical questions, please contact Interfolio directly at 1-877-997-8807 or help@interfolio.com.
