The Department of the Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, and tenured faculty positions at the ranks of Associate Professor and Professor.
For this search, we welcome applications from all candidates whose research complements or expands the department’s strengths in the broad areas of geochemistry, cosmochemistry, solid-earth geophysics, planetary evolution or those whose work is aligned with the efforts of the University’s Center for the Origins of Life. We seek individuals who will lead world-class research programs and enhance the intellectual endeavors of the department and the university. Qualifications
Completion of all requirements for the PhD in Earth or planetary sciences or a related field prior to appointment is required. Additionally, Associate Professor and Professor appointments require evidence of leadership in the field and successful independent research record.

Base salary ranges for these positions are:
Assistant Professor: $120,000 - $150,000
Associate Professor: $130,000 - $165,000
Professor: $155,000 - $210,000
These base pay ranges are for a nine-month academic appointment. Individuals may be eligible for summer salary. These positions may be eligible for a taxable moving allowance.
