Executive Director for Housing and Residence Life
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, the nation’s largest Historically Black University and a premier doctoral research, land-grant institution, is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as the next Executive Director for Housing and Residence Life. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership for a multifaceted housing and residence life enterprise that supports nearly 7,000 residential students. The Executive Director serves as a senior advisor on university housing facilities, residential education, off-campus living, student conduct, safety, and operations, ensuring alignment with divisional and institutional priorities. As a highly visible member of the North Carolina A&T community, this leader will cultivate partnerships across campus and the broader community to advance a safe, thriving, and student-centered residential experience.
The Executive Director for Housing and Residence Life provides strategic leadership for a team of educators and services that support the security and safety of nearly 7,000 residential students and coordinates off-campus housing opportunities for students in the Office of Housing and Residence Life: Housing Facilities, Residential Education and Conduct; Administrative Services and Off-Campus Living and Partnerships. The Executive Director for Housing and Residence Life supports student and university success through the direct stewardship of a $20 million auxiliary budget.
The next Executive Director for Housing and Residence Life will join North Carolina A&T at a pivotal moment of growth and transformation. As the university advances its R1 aspirations and invests in the student living and learning experience, the Executive Director will help shape residential strategies, partnerships, and facilities planning that enable students to thrive academically and personally.
The Executive Director for Housing and Residence Life is an experienced, strategic, collaborative, and student-centered leader who champions the value of a transformative residential experience. Qualified candidates for this role will have a minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience directing a department or functional area within student affairs. The Executive Director must demonstrate substantial experience in crisis management, emergency response, and student wellbeing initiatives, along with strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to cultivate effective partnerships with diverse constituents.

Responsibilities for this full-time position will be performed on-site in North Carolina. Salary will be commensurate with experience and accompanied by a generous benefits package.
