Part-Time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor

POSITION: Part-Time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor; Center for Corporate and Community Education; Lawrence Campus (414 Common Street)

Employment Type: Contract, part-time position with variable hours based on enrollment, training schedules, and departmental needs. Weekly hours typically range from 6–18 hours and are assigned on an as-needed basis throughout the year.

Summary

Northern Essex Community College (NECC) is seeking a Part-Time CNA Instructor to assist with the practical and clinical components of its hybrid Nursing Assistant Program alongside the Primary CNA Instructor.

The instructor reports to the CNA Program Coordinator and collaborates in planning, teaching, and supporting each monthly CNA cohort.

This position is part of an open applicant pool for the 2026–2027 academic year. Openings may not be immediately available. Applications remain active through June 30, 2027, after which interested candidates must reapply with updated information.

Schedule

This is a flexible, part-time position.

• Hours vary based on enrollment and program needs.
• CNA programs typically operate in 4-week cycles.
• Weekly hours generally range from 6 to 18 hours.
• Some periods may have no scheduled hours depending on demand.

Responsibilities

• Lead small-group instruction in nursing assistant skills.
• Evaluate students' practical skills and clinical competencies.
• Participate in clinical instruction (currently held in Newburyport, Massachusetts).
• Assist with Skills Labs (currently held on the NECC Lawrence Campus).
• Support student learning in both laboratory and clinical settings.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• Current Massachusetts RN or LPN license
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience, including at least one year in a long-term care facility
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to teach Nursing Assistant competencies in laboratory and clinical settings
• Technical expertise in long-term care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in:

  • Lesson planning
  • Instruction
  • Student evaluation and remediation
  • Healthcare staff education or in-service coordination

  OR

  • Equivalent of 24 contact hours in approved continuing education programs
• Adult education experience
• Flexibility to teach daytime, evening, and weekend schedules
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)
• Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population
