GENERAL DUTIES
1. Perform highly skilled laboratory and technical support functions to facilitate computer science coursework and practical sessions.
2. Set up, configure, maintain, and organize computer laboratories for student use.
3. Assist students during lab sessions with software, hardware, experiments, and other learning activities.
4. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, systems, and materials.
5. Enforce and maintain appropriate safety, security, and hygiene standards within the laboratory environment.
6. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to laboratory usage, equipment, and activities.
7. Monitor, track, and manage inventory of laboratory equipment, software licenses, and consumable materials.

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. The Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science Department at LaGuardia Community College of the City University of New York is seeking highly motivated and innovative candidates to fill two full time College Laboratory Technician (CLT) positions.
The CLT will perform highly skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework and research. Typical duties include but are not limited to coordinating purchase orders, maintenance, repair and use of lab equipment/supplies, maintaining and upgrading software in multiple computers in labs and classrooms managed by the Department, and set-up of equipment demonstrations and computer lab support for classes and student projects and research. The CLT also coordinates with faculty to set up laboratory experiments for classes and practice sessions for students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years’ experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information systems or a closely related area with one year related experience.
COMPENSATION
$68,245 - $99,042
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
