Reporting to the President, the Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University, serves as a member of the President’s Senior Leadership Team, and is responsible for all academic matters including curriculum, faculty and staff hires, faculty development, student academic success, student life, and resource management. The Provost is responsible for the academic budget, leadership of the faculty, and academic program development including community outreach programs, oversight of institutional accreditation, and promoting scholarly and creative activities. The Provost will be involved in creating and deepening “high impact” practices that engage students. This includes common learning experiences, undergraduate research, study abroad, internships, capstone experiences, and critical thinking. RESPONSIBILITIES: Leads the pursuit of distinction, teaching and learning excellence, and enrollment growth in School of Liberal Arts and Sciences Advise the President on all academic matters Work with the President and his Senior Leadership Team in the overall coordination and leadership of the University Oversee the implementation of academic strategic planning Coordinate facilities planning for Academic Affairs Work closely with Enrollment Management to support the recruitment and retention of students Establish guidelines for and oversee curriculum planning and development Oversee academic advising and other student retention strategies in Academic Affairs Supervises and oversees the office of Student Life on all matters In collaboration with the faculty, promote the development and on-going review of academic programs to increase the academic quality in all curricular and co-curricular programming Coordinate the hiring, evaluation and professional development of faculty, academic administrators, and staff in academic affairs Make recommendations on faculty promotion and tenure Review and approve academic policies Anticipate future developments in higher education and their impact on the University Represent the University’s academic programs to internal and external communities Accountable for the University’s compliance with accreditation requirements for all academic programs The University seeks an experienced academic leader who has: Outstanding academic leadership credentials, and a broad base of experience with both traditional and non-traditional programs, preferably both in the liberal arts and health sciences. A demonstrated record of success in leading significant institutional change, preferably with prior experience on the President’s Cabinet. Solid grounding in Catholic higher education or a deep understanding of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, preferably both. Demonstrated ability to set high expectations and hold people accountable for excellent performance in a fast-paced environment. Integrity, humility, and excellent social and interpersonal skills. Operational and strategic academic and financial planning experience. Demonstrated experience in leading all accreditation for the University. The University seeks an individual with an earned doctorate from an accredited college or university; proven administrative leadership experience; a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship and collegial service; a practical and intellectual commitment to higher education; experience in faculty governance, leadership, mentoring, and faculty development; and a commitment to interact effectively with other administrators, staff, peers, faculty, students and the public.
