Assistant Professor, Clinician Educator track, in the Division of Genomic Diagnostics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Mar 23, 2026
Deadline: Mar 23, 2028 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of functional analysis of genomic variants, with the goal of decreasing uncertainty in clinical diagnostics. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching of fellows, residents, medical, and graduate students.
Clinical responsibilities may include the development and implementation of tools for diagnostic and translational medicine, establishing or improving standards for interpreting data, and appropriate quantitative interpretation of data in clinical lab settings. We seek someone who can help facilitate expanding analyses and diagnostic interpretation for new diseases, genomic regions, and new technologies. The candidate will work closely with the clinical genomic diagnostic to integrate variant functional data into diagnostics. Familiarity with ACMG guidelines and clinical databases, such as ClinVar, is critical.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include molecular assessment of DNA variants, the establishment of high-throughput functional characterization systems, and translational medicine. The establishment of collaborative work in genomic diagnostics and computational biology is highly desirable. Experience with designing high-throughput functional assays is required.
We seek a candidate whose research interests focus on solving uncertainty in pediatric genetic disease to improve genomic diagnostics.
