Vice President for Marketing
The University of South Carolina (USC), the state’s flagship university and a dynamic institution dedicated to innovation, student success, and regional and national impact, invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Marketing.
Founded in 1801, the University is located in the state capital of Columbia and serves nearly 40,000 students across 350+ degree programs. The University is both a Carnegie R1 university and an Elective Community Engagement institution. Campus-wide, university researchers attracted $323 million in sponsored awards in FY25 in areas ranging from instruction to academics to public service.
USC’s impact continues to grow, with the university in the silent phase of a new capital campaign, and in the building phase of a new $350 million specialized neurological and rehabilitation hospital in Columbia’s BullStreet District to treat brain trauma, stroke, and nervous system diseases. The facility will offer advanced neurosurgery, rehabilitation, and research, potentially opening around 2028 near the new School of Medicine. The landscape at the university is dynamic and aspirational, and the next VP for Marketing will play an important strategic role in positioning the institution.
The vice president will serve as the chief marketing and branding officer for the University of South Carolina and will be tasked with crafting a cohesive marketing and branding platform based on the university's current accomplishments, strategic goals, and community values.
The Vice President for Marketing will report to the President and will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. The successful candidate will be expected to drive operational excellence and to shape branding and marketing strategies in support of the mission of the University. The Vice President for Marketing will have the opportunity to establish strategy to enhance and develop a high performing, efficient University Marketing division, as well as advance both the profile and capabilities of a thriving university.
