Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance and General Counsel
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T), the nation’s largest historically Black university and a premier doctoral research, land-grant institution, is seeking a distinguished and visionary legal executive to serve as the University’s next Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance and General Counsel.
Reporting directly to the Chancellor and serving as an essential member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, the Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance and General Counsel acts as the institution’s primary legal counsel and most trusted executive advisor. The successful candidate will provide strategic foresight, be a business catalyst, and mitigate enterprise risk. The Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance and General Counsel leads the Division of Legal Affairs, Risk, and Compliance, which consists of the Office of Legal Affairs, the Office of Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management, the Title IX Office, and the Department of Internal Audit. In addition, the position serves as the University’s principal legal liaison to the Office of the Attorney General of North Carolina and collaborates with the UNC System Office and peer institutions across the University of North Carolina System.
With 15,275 students, the university offers 61 undergraduate, 35 master’s and 14 doctoral programs. It is America’s top producer of Black STEM graduates, as well as Black graduates in Engineering, both at the bachelor’s degree level and overall, and in Agricultural Science. It is a Top 10 producer of Black graduates in 24 disciplines at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels, as well as “all disciplines combined” for Black undergrads. As such, N.C. A&T has a profound and singular impact on the representation of African American professionals in America’s knowledge economy. N.C. A&T’s Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics is ranked no. 11 nationally by College Consensus among “Best Business Schools for Women” and the university overall holds numerous rankings across multiple disciplines for “Total Minority” graduates.
Responsibilities for this full-time position will be performed on-site in North Carolina. Salary will be commensurate with experience and accompanied by a generous benefits package.
