Executive Director, Research Administration (Pre-Award)
The University of Miami invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Executive Director, Research Administration (Pre-Award). Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Research Administration, the Executive Director will develop and lead a high-performing team and help transform research administration within the Pre-Award division at the University of Miami.

The Executive Director, Research Administration (Pre-Award) of the Office of Research Administration (ORA) reports to the Associate Vice President for Research Administration and is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and management of ORA’s mission for the Coral Gables, Rosenstiel, and Medical Campuses for the Pre-Award division. The Office of Research Administration is based on the Coral Gables campus. The Executive Director, Pre-Award, is responsible for supervising all personnel within the Pre-Award unit.
A pivotal role within a vibrant and rapidly evolving research enterprise, the position offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of pre-award research administration at a top research university with global reach, significant growth ambitions, and a strong commitment to research excellence. The Executive Director, Pre-Award is responsible for all proposal submissions and administrative actions for sponsored program funding prior to award acceptance. Moreover, the Executive Director, Pre-Award evaluates, improves, and monitors the grant and research administration processes and policies to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
This critical position requires a dynamic, passionate, entrepreneurial, and experienced leader with a proven track record across the spectrum of research operations. The next Executive Director, Research Administration (Pre-Award) will have deep expertise with grants and sponsored programs, including federal, foundation, and industry funding. This role will require a broad background, including research sponsored by government agencies as well as private for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
