The Vice Provost & Dean of Undergraduate Education provides campuswide leadership in sustaining and enhancing the quality of the undergraduate academic experience at UC Santa Cruz. The Vice Provost & Dean offers strategic direction to advance undergraduate academic success, provide high-impact learning opportunities, broaden student access and pathways to the campus, and shape academic policies that support student retention and achievement.
The Vice Provost & Dean collaborates closely with disciplinary deans, Academic Senate committees, and the Division of Student Affairs and Success to improve student outcomes, foster academic belonging and engagement, and deliver a holistic, student-centered academic experience.

The Division of Undergraduate Education oversees key areas that shape the undergraduate experience—including: Academic Integrity Office, Colleges, Educational Partnership Center, Summer Session, Undergraduate Advising, Undergraduate Research, Personnel, and the Division of Global Engagement.
The position will report directly to the Campus Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor. As a member of the Campus Provost & Executive Vice Chancellors ’s leadership team, the Vice Provost & Dean of Undergraduate Education (VPDUE) serves as the campus-wide expert and leader for undergraduate education, promoting its excellence in all areas. The next Vice Provost & Dean of Undergraduate Education will provide leadership that addresses challenges in higher education while developing a vision for long-term opportunities for the Division of Undergraduate Education at UC Santa Cruz. These opportunities include advancing First- and Second-Year Academic Performance through coherent, data-informed strategies; reimagining advising and the First-Year Experience; evolving the College System while preserving its distinctive value; leveraging Summer Session and curricular innovation for timely degree completion; and providing visionary academic leadership in a complex, resource-constrained environment.

The anticipated salary range for the role is currently $310,000 to $350,000, commensurate with experience. UC Santa Cruz also offers a highly competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
