The University of South Alabama – a dynamic public research university located on the Gulf Coast – seeks an exceptional, visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the Graduate School and a core member of the executive team driving our historic trajectory toward achieving the Carnegie R1 designation.
The Graduate School at the University of South Alabama administers the university’s advanced academic and professional programs, offering more than 50 graduate and professional degree options across a wide range of disciplines. Graduate study at USA is designed to support career advancement, independent research, and intellectual development, as well as the University’s Carnegie Classification R1 roadmap. Programs span master’s, doctoral, and interdisciplinary degrees across the colleges of arts and sciences, engineering, business, education and professional studies, nursing, medicine, allied health, and computing, among others.
The Dean serves as the chief executive officer of the Graduate School and reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost. The Dean collaborates across the campus with all Deans, the Vice President for Research, Center Directors, and University Advancement to increase and improve the university’s external funding, graduate programs, and graduate fellowships and research assistantships. The Dean also serves as the director of the Office of Postdoctoral Education. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, strategic-thinking leader with extensive experience in academic leadership, who will leverage our current strengths in research and teaching quality while advancing program innovation and growth.
