Harvard University is one of the world’s preeminent research universities. Founded in 1636, Harvard is the oldest university in North America. The University has grown from nine students with a single master to an enrollment of more than 6,600 undergraduate students and over 14,000 graduate students in the University’s ten graduate and professional schools. HARVARD UNIVERSITY POLICE DEPARTMENT The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) is a full-service police department comprising a Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division and Dignitary Protection Unit. The department is responsible for the safety and security of more than 19,000 students, 14,000 faculty and staff members, and 700 buildings in an open and accessible environment.
