Assistant Director for Communications, Arts and Technology Career Center Williams is pleased to announce the opening for Assistant Director for Communications, Arts and Technology fields at the Williams College Career Center. This is a full-time, year-round, regular appointment. The successful candidate will advise students on their potential employability in target fields and organizations, and help them market themselves via their resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and web presence. Responsibilities: Primary counselor to students and alumni interested in areas of STEM, Arts and Communications fields Facilitate workshops on topics including: resumes, cover letters, networking, interviewing, and LinkedIn, and collect and analyze outcome data on program effectiveness Coordinate and market programs for target populations including, but not limited to, alumni panels, employer site visits, and information sessions Provide distance counseling services, programs, and resources to students and alumni using Skype, Google Hangout, and email Critique student and alumni resumes, cover letters, and writing samples during individual appointments and via email Maintain relationships with a suite of 15-20 employers in relevant fields, and advise employer relations team on potential organizations you’d like to see represented on-campus Facilitate field-specific mock interviews and provide detailed critiques and feedback Build effective constituent relationships with relevant student groups, campus departments, and faculty in areas relating to counseling specialties Research best-practices at other institutions, and find new and innovative ways to serve our students career needs Qualifications: A successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with at least 2 to 5 years experience in higher education; Master’s degree preferred. Excellent writing and public-speaking skills is essential with an enthusiasm for interacting with students and alumni from a wide range of backgrounds. An ability to work with students and alumni varying in motivation, preparation, and experience and knowledge of ever-evolving job and internship processes is preferred. Strong computer and effective organizational skills are important with an attention to detail. A prosperous candidate must also have the ability to work effectively alone and as a team member.
