Assistant Professor - Human Communication Studies The Department of Human Communication Studies at Shippensburg University is excited to be a lead partner in the launch of the University’s new first year experience curriculum. To support that effort, we are seeking a tenure-track, Assistant Professor who will serve as Basic Course Director. The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of the basic course; participate in the implementation of the redesigned hybrid core course; coordinate training and assessment efforts, including that of adjunct faculty and student tutors through the Communication Center; direct the Communication Center/tutoring outreach efforts; and represent the department and discipline to the General Education Council and related constituents across campus. The opportunity to teach and develop additional courses, including advanced undergraduate courses (e.g., Training, Communication Education), in both traditional and online formats is available, but not required of this position. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. (A.B.D. considered; terminal degree completion required for second year renewal) in (speech/human) Communication Studies, with demonstrated effectiveness as classroom educators. Individuals with publication/research platforms in Communication Education are especially encouraged to apply. A record of engagement with student affairs, general education curriculum development, retention support, and assessment is preferred. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate awareness of and ability to work successfully with first year students, first generation students, and students from diverse backgrounds.
