Lecturer Position-Information Systems/Technology and Analytics College SC Johnson of Business Cornell University The SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University invites applications from qualified individuals for a full time lecturer position in our Operations Technology and Information Management (OTIM) Area, with a start date of July 1, 2018. Rank is lecturer, and salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Applicants with a Ph.D. (defended or ABD) or a Master’s degree in Information Systems/Technology or a related field will be considered. Responsibilities of the position include: Teaching current undergraduate and graduate courses, including but not limited to: Business Computing: an introductory IT course emphasizing basic computer concepts and software fluency Advanced Business Modeling: an elective quantitative problem-solving course emphasizing advanced Microsoft Excel fluency Fundamentals of Database Management and Data Analysis: an elective course on the design and use of Microsoft Access databases to perform analyses and make effective business decisions. The ability to expand current offerings by developing classes in Hospitality Information Systems or Microsoft Power BI is desirable. Service to the School, College and University. The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three AACSB-accredited Schools: The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the School of Hotel Administration (Hotel School). The OTIM Area at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business consists of 44 faculty from across our three Schools. The intent of this process is to recruit hires for the School of Hotel Administration. The School that best fits the candidate’s research, teaching and public engagement interests will ultimately serve as the tenure home. Faculty nonetheless have opportunities to teach across the three Schools’ degree programs in order to develop an appealing teaching load. The School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, the top-ranked hospitality management program worldwide, enrolls approximately 900 undergraduates and 70 graduate students. Founded in 1922, SHA is home to over 60 full-time resident faculty and over 12,000 alumni worldwide. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Information Systems/Technology or a related field. Demonstrated teaching ability within an institution of higher education where student-faculty relations are highly valued. A minimum of five years of experience and skill in the area of Information Systems/Technology. Hospitality industry knowledge and experience is preferred. Candidates should be comfortable delivering course material in both lab and lecture settings. Candidates should be fluent in all components of the Microsoft Office 2016 Productivity Suite. Additionally, a basic working knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications is an advantage. It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to develop and revise original course material. Preferred candidates will have experience teaching standard undergraduate Information Systems/Technology courses and a familiarity with Hospitality Information Systems.
