The Education Department at Regis College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Education at the rank of assistant professor, beginning August 1, 2018. The area of specialization is Special Education and the position will contribute to all areas of our teacher education program. Our department offers a wide range of teaching licensure options to our undergraduate and post baccalaureate licensure students: Elementary Education, Secondary Education with licensure areas of science, math, social studies, language arts, business, or K-12 Art, Music, or World Language Education. Each student has the option to add a Special Education Endorsement. All of our teacher candidates earn a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) endorsement as part of our inclusive program. Our program is situated within the liberal arts college, and our students work closely with members of their content-area departments as well as the Education faculty members. We are seeking a colleague who will work collaboratively with fellow faculty members in the education department, departments across campus, and professionals in local schools to ensure program quality. The successful candidate must be able to teach upper-level courses in Special Education, along with courses in education foundations and/or assessment. In addition, faculty members across the disciplines in Regis College are expected to develop and teach interdisciplinary, integrative core courses with themes such as justice and the common good, the search for meaning, diversity and cultural traditions, and global environmental awareness. Candidates should also demonstrate potential for an active scholarly program. A conferred Ph.D. is required. Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate in special education or related field Commitment to diversity and equity in education At least 3 years of successful teaching experience at the K-12 level Experience teaching diverse student populations Experience with and understanding of state and national standards A record of collaborative activity Record of (or potential for) scholarly productivity Preferred Qualifications: 5 or more years of successful teaching experience in special education at the elementary and/or secondary level Demonstrated understanding of current education trends, challenges, and legislation Successful teaching experience in higher education Experience integrating technology into teaching and learning An ongoing program of scholarly research and publications Regis College, one of the five schools of Regis University in Denver, Colorado, is a Jesuit liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition with a primary emphasis on excellence in undergraduate teaching and cura personalis.
