Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs
The Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs performs a variety of confidential, non-routine high-level administrative support and secretarial work relating to the academic operations of the College. This position requires initiative and independent judgment and works independently under minimal supervision, managing the operation of the Vice President’s Office and carrying out the Vice President’s directives with high level staff and faculty committees.
The Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs has regular contact with high level administrative and academic officers, as well as students and parents of students requiring the use of tact, discretion, sensitivity and judgment. Regularly resolves politically sensitive problems, which impact the academic operations of the College.
The successful candidate has a high level of interpersonal and human relations skills with the ability to interact appropriately with a wide variety of personality types; excellent critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize and handle non-routine situations and special problems by determining the approach or action to take and following through with it.
The successful candidate has strong communications skills with the ability to draft documents, correspondence, and reports as well as communicate the Vice President's instructions or desires to various individuals.
This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule and additional hours as business requires.
