Technical Analyst, Visualization and 3D Modeling

Ringling College of Art and Design is seeking a Technical Analyst: Visualization and 3D Modeling.  The Technical Analyst provides support for rendering cluster operations, GPU (graphics processing unit) acceleration of creative workflows, and technical systems support for campus web services. The Technical Analyst collaborates with colleagues to engage technical solutions that encourage the Ringling College community to flourish. 

As a specialist in 3D animation workflows and rendering cluster operations, the Technical Analyst assists with cluster change management, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operations.  The Technical Analyst monitors cluster submissions and job performance and responds to rendering cluster technical support issues; working closely with cluster users and identify trends and potential problems.  Leveraging GPU experience and understanding, the Technical Analyst fosters integration of GPU solutions to improve workflows and reduce project iteration timelines. 

As a web services specialist, provides technical systems support for Ringling College web infrastructure by aiding in analysis, design, deployment, management and maintenance of web-based solutions and support components to ensure stability, security, quality and integrity. 

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience designing and deploying technology solutions, including systems installation, performance tuning, package installation, and patch management updates;  possess strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral with a positive attitude toward sharing expertise and assisting others to learn and have the ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without assistance. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as computer science or computer animation.
  • Detailed knowledge of 3D computer graphics, be well versed in the principles of physics and animation systems, including thorough knowledge of Maya (ideally with Mel and Python scripting experience) and Renderman. 
  • Experience with web technologies as an end user or service provider.
  • Experience with 3D animation and rendering processes and workflows, including diagnosing rendering issues and GPU accelerated workflows. Troubleshooting and support experience in a rendering cluster environment.
  • Knowledge of client-server architectures, especially client-server rendering pipelines; conceptual understanding and an ability to illustrate using various software tools
  • Experience in scripting, automating, and developing solutions to reduce or eliminate manual processes.
