Department/School Summary:
Fresno Pacific University’s growing nursing program invites applications for a nursing educator with expertise in obstetrics, mental health, pediatrics, -or- geriatrics to join a visionary team as it builds new programs. The current BRN-approved and CCNE accredited programs include a RN–to–BSN program, a pre-licensure BSN program for traditional undergraduates (TUG), and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) focus. This nursing faculty member will work with a talented team of faculty and university leadership to expand innovative and Christ-centered service to those underserved in the community.
Essential Functions
- Teach primarily in the graduate program. The area of specialization is open.
- Develop curriculum in the area of expertise.
- Direct and indirect supervision of students in diverse clinical settings.
- Evaluation of students in class and clinical/lab settings.
- Regular communication with students regarding their progress.
- Maintenance of student academic records.
- Pursue an active scholarly professional development agenda while promoting a focus on student-faculty collaborative research.
- Mentor and advise nursing students.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving and inspiring students in an academic context that integrates your Christian faith and learning.
- Embrace the mission, vision, and values of Fresno Pacific University, affirm the FPU Faith Expectations, and support the ideals and practices articulated in "The Fresno Pacific Idea”

Qualifications
Required:
- Clinical position with a requirement of a master’s degree, OR
- Tenure-track position with a requirement of a terminal degree
- Minimum of one (1) year direct patient RN experience within the previous five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in one of the following area(s): obstetrics, mental health, pediatrics, or geriatrics.
- Two (2) years of continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience in direct patient care in family practice as a registered NP.
- Verification of national certification by the National Board as an NP in the population-focused area of family practice.
- Unrestricted and unencumbered current California Registered Nurse license.
- Evidence of excellence or potential for excellence in teaching at a collegiate level.
- Must be open to teaching in-person and online (or in a hybrid, Hi-Flex format).
- Commitment to quality instruction with attention to student success as an indicator of academic excellence.
- Ability to work with students, staff, and faculty in a collegial environment.
- Evidence of passion for student mentoring.
- Record or promise of scholarly achievement (if tenure-track).
- Able to learn and navigate technology, course management systems, and virtual learning environments (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Typhon, etc.).
Preferred:
- Doctoral degree.
- Bilingual and multicultural competencies.
Environmental Conditions:
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands:
- This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

$83,740 to $120,963 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, FPU offers a competitive benefits package.
