Corning Community College seeks a Tenure Track Faculty Member for our Educational Studies Program who will participate in the Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth Plus Community College (PRODiG+ CC) program. PRODiG+ CC is an initiative supported by SUNY system aiming to:
1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse community college faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion by hiring qualified candidates directly into tenure-track positions to support the community colleges’ efforts to build an educated workforce in the state; and
2) strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of these candidate. Candidates hired into a PRODiG+ CC role will receive additional faculty mentorship and professional development funds to support their professional growth.
Instructors are responsible for teaching a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester such as Special Education and Inclusive Classroom, Diversity in the Classroom, and Schools and Society. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing material for the classes, grading assignments submitted in connection with the classes, holding an office hour for each course taught to assist students as needed, advise students in both academics and career goals. The courses may be in-person live, asynchronous on-line, or synchronous on-line, depending on the needs of the department. Tenure Track Faculty are expected to update and organize the material as needed. Master’s degree in Education with Certification in Early Childhood/Childhood Education, with a preference also for certification in Special education. Minimum 3-5 years full-time (or equivalent part time) teaching experience in P-12 with a preference for candidates who also have teaching experience in the college/higher education setting.
Occasional meetings at different CCC locations and in the community may be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events may be required. Prolonged time sitting/standing working with computers and monitors, ability to walk/move across campus including walking up and down stairs, ability to lift up to 25 pounds (occasionally may be more), repeated motions may include keyboard typing. Typical office and indoor building environments, occasional outdoor activity may be required. Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
