Dean of the College of Engineering
UMass Dartmouth, a thriving public research university and critical engine of social mobility located on Massachusetts’ Southcoast, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Engineering (CoE). U.S. News & World Report ranks the College of Engineering in the top 150 engineering schools among doctorate granting universities. Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the leader of the College, overseeing a vibrant academic enterprise that serves roughly 900 undergraduate students in 16 academic program areas and approximately 675 graduate students in 12 programs each year. The Dean leads, supports and advocates for a talented and diverse faculty of dedicated scholars and teachers, comprised of 45 tenure-line faculty and 25 full- and part-time teaching faculty in six academic departments. The CoE also encompasses the Cyber Security Center, which has been designated by the NSA as a National Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity Research, the Center for Scientific Computing and Data Science Research, and the Highway Sustainability Research Lab.
In partnership with the faculty and other academic and administrative leaders, the Dean will work to enhance academic and instructional quality; foster the development, support, and recognition of UMass Dartmouth faculty; drive services and programs that promote the success of the university's students; promote and support a diverse and inclusive environment; connect budgeting and effective resource allocation to planning efforts, and ensure the College’s infrastructure continues to support the College’s overall academic and research mission. The next Dean will provide transparent leadership, build consensus, and value collaborative decision-making and will bring significant administrative experience, outstanding communication skills, authenticity, self-confidence balanced with humility, integrity of the highest order, a positive solutions-based approach to problem solving, and a clear understanding of the challenges facing today's modern university.
The salary range for this role is $270,000-310,000 and will include a generous benefits package.
