The Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position. The academic appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Line (tenure track) series.
The position will be in the broad areas of RNA biology and molecular genetics. All areas of research focusing on the basic mechanisms of RNA regulation, modeling diseases such as cancer or infectious diseases, and therapeutics targeting RNA biology are of interest, including (but not limited to) genetics, computational biology, chemical biology, structural biology, biochemistry, microbiology, oncology, virology, and genomics using tractable model systems and clinically relevant samples.
Ideal applicants will be creative and collaborative scientists using state-of-the-art approaches combining different elements of genetics, bioinformatics, biochemistry, systems biology, cell biology, and in vitro or in vivo models of disease or infection. We would especially encourage applicants with innovative new perspectives and research interests that embrace interdisciplinary approaches. Successful applicants will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in departmental teaching and mentoring missions for graduate and medical students.
