Vice President of Finance and Administration
St. Bonaventure University (SBU) invites nominations and applications for its next Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA). St. Bonaventure seeks an experienced, strategic, and forward-thinking finance executive looking to lead change and transformation in a dynamic residential educational environment. This person will balance competing demands and University initiatives, and they will prioritize resources to serve the community as SBU’s next Vice President of Finance and Administration. The role offers an exciting and unique opportunity to lead the financial direction of a small liberal arts institution that offers all the opportunities of a large school with a strong and growing enrollment history, a moderate endowment and University budget, and an innovative and engaged senior leadership team. This is an exciting time to join St. Bonaventure, as the VPFA will have the opportunity to contribute to the many ambitious strategic goals of the President and the institution.
Reporting directly to President Jeff Gingerich, the VPFA will be a dynamic and visionary leader who works closely with the President's cabinet, Board members, faculty, students, and staff to facilitate the University's strategic, financial, and operational vision and goals. The VPFA will be influential in developing and implementing a comprehensive, future-driven financial strategy through leadership and oversight of diverse functional areas, including the Business office, Events Management, external contract services, Facilities – maintenance and housekeeping, Enterprise Risk Management and Legal Services, Purchasing, Treasury and Investments, as well as Capital Programs and Construction. For fiscal year 2023-24, St. Bonaventure University has an operating budget of $74 million and an endowment in excess of $90 million. SBU is currently well on its way through a comprehensive fundraising campaign for A Bolder Bonaventure, which aims to radically raise the profile of the University while connecting generations of students to the true meaning and potential of their existence. They have raised over $112 million of their $125 million goal.
Home to over 2,000 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students, St. Bonaventure is a Catholic university in the Franciscan tradition, dedicated to educational excellence informed by both Franciscan and liberal arts foundations. In the words of St. Bonaventure – the institution’s patron, SBU believes that there should be “no knowledge without love,” and thus seeks to transform the lives of its students, inspiring in them a lifelong commitment to service and citizenship. St. Bonaventure embraces students, faculty, and staff of all faiths and cultures and strives to bring out the best in every individual through meaningful relationships. As an academic and spiritual community, SBU endeavors to prepare students for the challenges they will face in their professional careers and personal lives.
A demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is a deep part of the Franciscan tradition at St. Bonaventure University. The University is committed to diversity and justice because of its Catholic and Franciscan tradition, and not in spite of it. St. Bonaventure University values all types of diversity, and it understands that this commitment requires close and regular examination of the culture, institutional practices, and individual attitudes of its campus community.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $210,000 - 225,000 with a generous benefits package.
