Fairfield University School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Counselor Education position in the Department of Counselor Education, for the 2024-2025academic year, beginning Fall, 2024. The Department offers two counseling tracks, School Counseling (SC) and Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) at the master’s level, which are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
The Position:
The successful candidate will typically teach 4+4, and participate in professional service within the department and at the school as needed. Faculty in the SC and CMHC programs are accredited as on-ground programs and all teaching is in-person.
Responsibilities:
· Teach master’s level counseling courses;
· Engage in faculty activities such as service to the department and school;
· Participate in the admissions process and work cooperatively with the Office of Admissions to ensure a high-quality and diverse student body;
· Perform other university and departmental duties as expected of all faculty, including serving on committees, attending faculty meetings, and engaging in community service.
Requirements:
· Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision preferably from a CACREP accredited program. ABDs will be considered. Will have the opportunity to apply for a tenure-track position for a counselor educator with a school counselor focus in Fall 2024.
· Some teaching experience, preferably at the master’s level;
· A commitment to excellence in graduate teaching; See application instructions for evidence documents

Preferred:
School Counseling work experience.
School Counseling program master’s degree.
