This is a two-year visiting faculty position starting in the 2017/18 academic year. The Evergreen State College seeks a media artist with a commitment to linking the theory and practice of nonfiction media to co-teach our foundation media program in collaboration with other interdisciplinary media faculty. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate deep engagement with documentary and community-based media production and with the critical frameworks informing documentary practice. S/he will have demonstrated experience utilizing media as a tool for engaging students and communities in collaborative modes of inquiry, education and problem-solving, and will have the knowledge and flexibility to teach and deploy a range of documentary and experimental strategies, techniques and formats, as appropriate, to different constituencies and issues. The ability to engage in on- and off-campus collaborations, as demonstrated through personal work and teaching, is required. The ability to help students produce collaborative projects with the potential to be shared and utilized both on campus and in community settings, through media campaigns, community media centers and/or public television, is highly desirable.  Experience in teaching, as well as a commitment to working with diverse and underserved student populations is also required.  The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience working with students in the areas of nonfiction media production, media theory, visual analysis, and critical reading and writing. Experience linking media with other disciplines through personal practice, teaching and/or research is highly desirable. Experience working across significant differences (race, class, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) is required. Other desirable qualifications include expertise and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following: 16mm film production, Global Cinema, theory and practice of experimental performance, video installation and/or digital storytelling. We are particularly interested in candidates who are committed to exploring how media can be used to further community collaboration, democratize media practices, and reconstitute the public sphere. This position is designed for a working artist and teacher. MA and active exhibition record required. MFA or other terminal degree preferred. The Evergreen State College invites applications for three, full-time visiting positions in creative writing, beginning in September 2016. These are 2-quarter or 3-quarter positions. Most of Evergreen’s undergraduate curriculum is built around 16-credit interdisciplinary coordinated studies. The successful hires for these positions will teach and/or team-teach full time interdisciplinary programs for one group of students, rather than multiple classes. The programs combine instruction in various disciplines with writing, literary studies and cultural studies. The literary and cultural studies components of the program are to be determined by candidate’s expertise and interest. They could include but are not limited to: literary or narrative theory, queer studies, postcolonial studies, lyric essay, international literature, translation, digital arts, hybrid genre, etc. Visiting faculty are required to participate fully in the life of the college including new faculty orientation, faculty meetings, and service.Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:  An MFA or PhD;Record of publication and teaching, including experience teaching undergraduate workshops in creative writing and literary studies;Teaching experience; andCommitment to working with students to advance their writing skills. The Evergreen State College welcomes applications for a full-time, regular* faculty position starting in the 2017/18 academic year.  We seek a colleague who is broadly trained in U.S. Latina/o Studies with an emphasis in social science, especially political economy and social movements.  Particular areas of emphasis may include (but need not be limited to): border/migration studies, immigration and labor, gender and racial justice, Chicana/o or U.S. Latina/o movements, civil and/or economic rights, immigration history, law and/or policy, Latina/os in the world system, and/or community-based teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be an insightful instructor with the ability to make interdisciplinary connections within and beyond the social sciences. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching at all levels, and to working with diverse and underrepresented populations.   While we seek primary training in U.S. Latina/o Studies with an emphasis in social science, we welcome in-depth expertise in any one of the following disciplines: Cultural Studies, Ethnic Studies, American Studies, Studies of Mexico or another Latin American country, Race, Class, Feminist/Gender Studies, LatinxQueer Studies, Indigenous Studies, Labor Studies, Environmental Justice Studies, Economics, Geography, Sociology, History, Law, or Political Science.   *Regular is equivalent to tenure-track at other colleges.  A complete description of the continuing contract and conversion process can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, article 11.   Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in U.S. Latina/o Studies or any Social Science field OR Masters in U.S. Latina/o Studies or any Social Science field + minimum of 2 years’ experience (such experience might include advocating, organizing, teaching, community education, community-based research, etc.).
