Transfer Counselor Academic/Administrative Unit: Division of Strategic Enrollment Management Rank: Professional Faculty/Instructor Title: Transfer Counselor Position Number: FA9960 Deadline: January 15, 2018 The Division of Strategic Enrollment Management provides primary oversight for the recruitment, retention and graduation of students at all levels. The purpose of the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management is to ensure academic quality and student success, which is dependent upon the recruitment, retention and timely graduation of a talented and diverse student body. Our goals and aspirations are clearly articulated in the university's strategic plan, the Quest for Distinction, and a primary component of our vision is to ensure that we attract and retain students who will graduate at a higher rate and who will contribute to a highly skilled 21st century workforce. Position responsibilities include the following in the respective disciplines: The NOVA transfer counselor assists the Senior Associate Director for Undergraduate Recruitment in developing and managing the admissions plan for recruiting transfer students in NOVA and actively recruits transfer students by visiting NOVA community colleges regularly and providing current information about VCU and its programs to community college counselors. The NOVA transfer counselor conducts regularly scheduled, on-campus information sessions at community colleges, including but not limited to Northern Virginia Community College and Germanna Community College. Conducts on the spot decisions at assigned community colleges. *Reviews and evaluates transfer applications in a timely manner to determine admissibility to the university based on established policies and procedures. *Travels to Richmond to participate in on-campus training and events as needed. *Travels to community colleges in Maryland to attend transfer recruitment events. *Travels to other assigned community colleges as needed to represent VCU at recruitment events. Required Qualification: Valid Driver's license Proof of car insurance Must provide own transportation for NOVA travel Master's degree required Previous customer service and public speaking experience Experience using variety of computer software Knowledge of VCU programs and admissions policies and its articulation agreements with the VCCS Knowledge of the Virginia Community College System and its articulation agreements with VCU Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Preferred Qualifications: *Master's degree or equivalent training and work experience preferred Application Process: Applications must be submitted electronically at https://www.vcujobs.com/ Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
