The Research Coordinator provides professional level support to the Vice President for Research in promoting excellence and growth in research, under a broad set of responsibilities which include: supporting the coordination, organization and production of collaborative proposals; leading programs to develop faculty grant seeking and proposal writing skills; and initiating activities to foster collaboration in research. The Research Coordinator is the liaison between faculty grant seekers and the Office for Research and will promote the use of grant seeking tools, provide training for grant seekers, and develop strategies for successful grant seeking. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field Four years of relevant experience Experience developing proposals to government agencies or foundations Demonstrated analytical skills related to the requirements of the position Demonstrated organizational skills involving collaborative projects Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with different deadlines Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills commensurate with the position Demonstrated interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to network within an organization Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively Demonstrated ability to work and solve problems independently Experience with Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel and Power Point Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in STEM field Advanced degree Sponsored research experience in Higher Education In-depth experience developing research proposals to federal grant awarding agencies Knowledge of major funding agencies, such as the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health Experience using grant seeking tools Strong proposal writing and grant seeking skills Experience with developing and presenting grant seeking or grant writing training programs The University of Dayton is a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers.
