This position reports to the Associate Director for Career Services and is responsible for providing career counseling/coaching/advising and developing career related programs and resources for students and alumni, with a specialized emphasis on students in the College of the Arts & Sciences. The incumbent will serve as a liaison for a specific campus student population. This position is responsible for website management and social media coordination and usage.The University is looking to staff this role during our normal business hours of Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Evening and/or weekend hours are required on an as needed basis. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position with excellent benefits.The Amica Center for Career Education is responsible for effectively delivering career services counseling/coaching/advising for undergraduate (part- and full-time) students, graduate students and alumni, workshops, career information programs, and related office programs and services. The office publishes a weekly job vacancy newsletter, which lists employment opportunities for Bryant alumni and follows up with graduates and corporate recruiters to monitor career experiences of Bryant graduates. The office also administers and continues to develop the on-campus recruiting program.Career Counseling/Coaching/Advising: The Career Coach provides career counseling/coaching/advising to students and alumni in an effort to help them make well-informed decisions on career choices, to help students reach their career goals and to become aware of employment opportunities. This position will provide specialized emphasis on students in the College of the Arts & Sciences.Liaison: The incumbent serves as the liaison to a specific student population on campus. Assignment is determined annually, based on departmental and campus needs.Special Programs and Workshops: The incumbent plans, develops and presents numerous special programs and workshops for students which help develop career skills and identify career choices, including special topic programs designed to support the career success of students in the College of Arts and Sciences; career exploration programs designed to help students (especially Arts and Sciences students) gain skills and strategies to meet career objectives; structured workshops on self-assessment, job search strategies, resume writing, interview skills, employment letter writing, etc; and the Freshman Career Development Course. In order to promote opportunities for students, the incumbent works closely with faculty and administration to advise them of career service programs and encourage their participation in programs as appropriate. The Career Coach also prepares related materials for use in counseling/coaching/advising, workshops and outreach.Outreach: The Career Coach identifies and maintains contacts with alumni to encourage and coordinate their participation in career development programs. The incumbent also maintains contact with the business and educational communities through participation in professional organizations to identify career opportunities in the business field. The Career Coach actively interfaces with faculty to better meet the career planning needs of students from specific academic concentrations, and to gain faculty input and involvement in office programs as appropriate.Website Management and Social Media: In collaboration with University Relations, this position manages the Amica Center's website, under the direction of the Associate Director and the Executive Director. This position also establishes the Amica Center's social media policy and procedures for office use, as well as coordinates office social media efforts and reports on usage.The Career Coach assumes responsibility for various administrative projects as assigned.Principal Accountabilities: The principal accountabilities of the Career Coach in the Amica Center for Career Education include but are not limited to the following:1. Identify career related concerns and provide effective individual career development services to students and alumni. Develop and report on metrics that demonstrate efficacy of services, with continuous improvement and innovation as a goal.2. Develop and present a variety of structured workshops, special topics programs and career exploration programs and resources which assist individuals in making well informed judgments regarding their career choice and in developing effective job search skills. Develop and report on program/workshop success, with continuous improvement and innovation as a goal.3. Research and develop effective career information materials for use in counseling, workshops, and outreach. Assist in maintaining online career development tools, and making recommendations to continually improve such resources.4. Monitor and maintain website, making updates regularly and in compliance with University guidelines and standards.5. Develop and deploy a social media policy and procedures for office use. Coordinate office social media and report on usage. Make recommendations to improve social media channels and usage. Assist staff as needed in the use of social media tools.6. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external constituencies. Contribute to central reporting on external relationships, addressing levels of prospect development (if appropriate), engagement and maintenance.7. Support the graduate internship training program.8. Effectively assist the Executive Director, the Associate Director, and other staff in fulfilling related departmental administrative responsibilities.9. Perform other duties as directed.Regular attendance at assigned job site and the ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and constituents are essential functions of this positionQualifications: This position is best filled by an individual with a Master's degree and relevant experience in a college career services office or an organizational department of a similar function, or has maintained a career coaching/counseling practice. This position requires thorough knowledge of career development and job search processes; ability to establish rapport and deal effectively with a broad range of individuals; excellent oral and written communication skills and administrative skills; experience in website management and the use of social media to promote programs and initiatives; and expertise in the use of career assessment instruments. Experience engaging in and serving a diverse population is important.
